Founding Member

Arthur R. Hessel is a founding member of the firm. Art retired from the firm on December 31, 2011. While at the firm he represented numerous clients whose real estate activities involved federal, state, and local government bodies, providing transactional services for these clients and representing them in direct communications with governmental officials on a variety of matters. In addition to his transactional and administrative work, Art worked extensively in the dispute settlement area, including participating in arbitrations, administrative enforcement proceedings, and litigation.

During his years in practice, Art's work always centered on real estate law and on matters involving government assisted housing and development programs. Art began practicing law in the Washington, DC area in 1972. Prior to founding Hessel and Aluise, P.C. in June of 1991, he was a partner at Kelley Drye & Warren, a New York based law firm. Until 1989, he was a member of Lane and Edson, PC, a District of Columbia professional corporation, which had offices in Washington, New York, and Los Angeles.
